Our Family Vacation ;)
February 2013 we went to SPLASH UNIVERSE. www.splashuniverse.com
It was the first family vacay we've been on since before we had our youngest. We went as a group with Rich's side of the family.
It was busy and stressful but was all worth it watching how much fun the boys had!!! Sadly, this park closed in May. I am not sure exactly why. The hotel still remains but not the park apparently. They said there may be a new water park opening in Shipshewana in the future.
All packed up and ready to go! It was a surprise, they had no idea where we were going. :)
Fun times. Me, Rich, Baylen, Broden, and Bryatt.
I would recommend this park for kids ages birth-10. It seems they kind of get bored even with the arcade if they're older than that. They have one super awesome water slide for adults, but that is pretty much it for grown ups, so I wouldn't recommend a just "couples" trip.
The boy's room. 4 bunks, and a tv.
Our room. The two sleeping areas were divided by an almost complete wall as you can see on the left. It was pretty and clean. The boy's loved their section. There was also a kitchenette with cabinets, a sink, microwave, and a small refrigerator.
The lobby.
Going home. :( Bryatt told us he didn't want to leave our "new house" with the big pool!
My over all thoughts on the place??? Tickets/hotel prices seemed about average.
BRING FOOD AND DRINKS! Everything else is WAAAAY over priced.
They have a little ice cream shop down stairs. Normally the 5 of us can get ice cream for about 10-13 bucks. All we ordered was 3 small cones, a med. shake, and a sundae and it cost us twenty four dollars!!!
Also, EVERYTHING in Shipshewana is closed on Sundays. I mean EVERYTHING. (It is a mostly Amish community). So, if you stay on a Saturday night, make sure you have food and drink with you! We made that mistake. It was still an over all good time though.
