Winter 2013

January/February...

Our beautiful, sweet, pit bull, Roxy.  My husband and I both grew up with dogs.  We both had some pretty special ones.  But this girl we saved from our local shelter in May 2nd of 2012, is the BEST either of us have EVER had!  Forget those stereo types about pit bulls.  It is not a "breed thing".  You could get a dog with an aggressive/ non friendly personality in ANY breed.  It's just like people.  It could depend on its up bringing, it could depend on its personality.  Someone could get hurt by ANY breed of dog.  You only hear more about it if it happens by certain big breeds or pitties because they can do more damage from one bite.  Our pit bull Roxy LOVES our boys like her own pups.  And is VERY patient with them.  (A lot more patient than I am, ha ha.)  But regardless, children still need to be taught how to treat a dog, or any animal.  If you have a more aggressive child that just won't treat a pet the way it needs to be treated, you need to watch your child and focus more on their supervision, not the dog's.

Dust of Snow

By Robert Frost 1874–1963 Robert Frost
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
